Frequently Asked Questions

How is NUPSA different from other unions?

The National Union of Protective Services Associations is one of the fastest growing Security Enforcement unions in the Nation.   NUPSA represents only security enforcement personnel.  We understand the philopsophy, ideology and the day to day issues of working in security enforcement.  Our Executive Board are active or retired law enforcement officers.

NUPSA guarantees representation on every valid grievance; decisions are not based on the cost of pursuing a grievance.  NUPSA offers several legal programs including Collective Bargaining Representation, legislative program, legal representation, full-time lobbying, scholarship programs and more.

Is my employer involved with the union?

No.  Your employer has no say in the union and does not work with the union.  Click here for more information on what your employer can and cannot do.

Are you AFL-CIO affiliated?

No.  NUPSA is not AFL-CIO affiliated but provides many of the same services and benefits found in affiliated unions such as:  research, resources, training, legal representation, lobbying on state and federal levels, and independent labor studies.

What are some of the agencies you represent?

NUPSA represents many agencies nationwide and within the DC/Maryland/Virgina area.  Some of the agenceis we represent include:  Department of Labor, Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and Department of Defense to name a few.

Where do my dues go?

Dues provide the resources to demand and fight for good jobs, benefits, decent working conditions and a better future for families.  Union members in the private industry earn an average of 38 percent (38%) more than non-union workers and 54 percent (54%) more in benefits.  None of this is possible without the strength that comes from NUPSA dues.
